Kit for keeping ants at home: Ant farm Brand with Black garden ants colony
The offered kit includes the following elements:
1) Cork formicarium Brand
Dimensions of the nest part (cork): ~15 cm x 8 cm x 1 cm
Arena dimensions: 20 cm x 10 cm x 10 cm
Holes for resettlement: the formicarium has 2 blinded holes (fi 10) in the side walls, enabling the connection of a hose (tubing) for resettlement.
The ventilation plug in the lid provides air supply.
2) Formicarium decor: white quartz sand, elements of natural decor (cones, moss)
Decor elements provide ants with imitations of their natural environment
3) Accessories: plastic pipette, plastic tweezers, honey.
4) Lasius niger colony ( black garden ants)- you choose the size of the colony under the price.
Ant farm Brand:
Formicarium is recommended in breeding the following species of ants: Lasius niger, Lasius flavus, Formica fusca, Formica lemani, Tetramorium caespitum.
The formicarium has transparent walls so you can observe the life of the colony from all sides. The design has been thought out so that the owner can easily keep the formicarium clean, it also provides a microclimate close to natural. By using a nest made of cork, ants can drill many corridors and chambers. The materials used to make the formicarium are harmless to ants and the environment. It's a nice gift for someone longing for the company of animals.
The use of quartz sand prevents it from clumping, which makes the arena look aesthetically and natural.
If the colony grows, the set can be expanded by attaching a hose (tubing) to an arena or other nests.
The formicarium should be irrigated.
Proposed set for the self-composition:
- the above-mentioned formicarium with all the above-mentioned equipment;
- Lasius niger ants - please remember to select the size of the colony under the price;
- additional food: mealworm (warning - this is live food!); basic food for ants; smelt, pollen, dried blood;
- depending on the budget - accessories: feeding dish, drinking dish, magnifying glass, heating mat (when the temperature is below 22 degrees in the room), metal tweezers, litter.
