Description
Ant Food Set – Ideal for Most Ant Species
Our ant food set has been carefully developed to meet the nutritional needs of most ant species (except granivorous ants). It includes a variety of ingredients that support colony health and development by providing a complete, balanced diet.
The set includes:
-
Basic ant food (10 g) – A balanced formula (70% carbohydrates, 20% proteins, 10% vitamins and minerals) that provides essential nutrients.
Preparation: Add about 4 ml of water to a small amount of the dry food, mix, and let it sit for a few minutes until fully dissolved. Serve in small droplets on a feeding dish. -
Honey (1.5 ml) – Natural honey is an excellent source of energy. Just a tiny drop is enough to last about half a year when served 1–2 times per week.
-
Ground bee pollen (approx. 10 g) – Rich in proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals. It can be served dry, mixed with water, or combined with honey.
-
Ground dried smelt (approx. 4–5 g) – A high-protein food (52% protein) recommended for all ant species. Can be served dry or as a paste.
-
Dried blood (5 g) – A high-protein supplement that can be mixed with honey.
Usage: Mix a small amount of blood with 3 teaspoons of honey and a little water. Store in the fridge. The mixture remains usable for about 10 days. -
Gel water – A hydrogel-based superabsorbent that helps maintain humidity inside the formicarium. Perfect for when you're away, such as during holidays. Place a small portion in a shallow dish (e.g., a 40 mm Petri dish) and store the rest in the refrigerator.
Benefits of this set:
-
A varied, well-balanced diet tailored to ant nutrition.
-
High-quality ingredients that promote colony health.
-
Easy to prepare, use, and store.
