Short description of the ants:
Formica Fusca ants occur commonly throughout the Polish and alike Lasius Niger can be found on the sidewalks in the city. Also it builts the nests under stones and other objects, heated by the sun as well as drill the corridors in rotten trunks. Workers move in a characteristic way: run quickly, stop, change direction, run quickly.
They are used by other ants to establish nest. They eat small insects, aphid honeydew and plants nectar.
Formica Fusca belongs to the ants easy for breeding.
Formica Fusca is an easy-breeding ant because they are quite gentle (which is probably why they fall victim to slavery by other ants) and because of the monastic way of setting up an anthill.
BREEDING TIP:
If you buy small colonies, we recommend that you grow the ants in a test tube to 12-15 workers before releasing them to the formicarium. Otherwise, the ants may feel lost and the colony will develop more slowly.
