Glass lid of the formicarium
The cover of the formicarium is put on the lower part of the formicarium and has a blinded ventilation hole.
There is a silicone gasket between the lid and the lower part of the formicarium.
Thanks to this construction, the tightness of the formicarium is ensured.
Horizontal nest for ants
Due to the fact that the nest is horizontal, it is possible to observe the ants from above position. The arena, on the other hand, is large enough that it is easy to relocate the ants from the test tube by simply placing the test tube on the arena. A horizontal nest will also work well in raising large species like for example Camponotus ants.

The design has been thought out so that the owner can easily keep the formicarium clean, it also provides a microclimate close to natural. Functionality of the Compact II formicarium:
1) The formicarium is mainly made of glass, with careful use it is long-lived, it is enough to wash it if necessary. The cork, which wears out during the breeding of the ants (which is a natural process), is easy to replace.
The transparent walls of the formicarium allow you to easily observe the life of ants.
2) The use of a silicone gasket in the upper part of the arena causes the lid to adhere tightly to the rest of the formicarium, which ensures tightness of the formicarium (ants will not escape during farming)
