Description
Plaster ant farm for growing ants at home
Lubi - is a formicarium for ants with gypsum nest:
Technical data:
Size of the glass formicarium: 20cm * 10cm * 10cm
Size of the gypsum nest: 18cm * 7cm
Nest of the formicarium is made of light colour gypsum.
In side walls there are 2 plugged wholes ( fi10 mm) for connecting with an additional arena in case if the colony have grown very much ( You can use a connector No1)
In the top cover of the formicarium there is a ventilation plug.
Little bag with litter for watering of the nest.
Minimal number of ants to settle to the formarium: a queen plus 15 ants.
Maximum number of ants that a formarium can accommodate: a queen plus 500 ants.
The offered formicarium does not contain : ants, sand, basic decor items, connector No 1
Functionality of the Lubi formicarium
Chambers and corridors are cast aesthetically that make formicarium looks very elegant. It was designed to have an option of a panoramic observation of the habits of living ants. The unique depth of chambers makes even large species such as Camponotus ligniperda freely move along the corridors and nesting chambers in the cast. The size of formicarium Lubi is the perfect answer to the requests associated with the possibility of displaying it in large spaces of home and more modest apartments.
It can be successfully colonized by all available types of ant colonies. The design has been thought out so that the owner could easily keep formicarium clean. At the same time it also provides a microclimate similar to the natural. The materials used to produce formicarium are harmless to the ants and to the environment. The gypsum nest perfectly maintains the necessary moisture for the breeding of the colony.
In the nest there are deep chambers that allow the breeding of large and medium-sized species, eg. Camponotus ligniperda or Formica fusca.

Advice:
If the number of purchased ant workers is smaller than the one mentioned above, the colony should be grown in a test tube or in a smaller nest. One of the most common breeding mistakes is a placing too small colony to the formicarium that is too big for them!
For breeders leaving for vacation, we recommend to buy a free-standing watering dish which fits into the arena.For this occation also water in gel can be helpful.
We recommend to read the instructions of use to avoid mistakes before letting the ants into the formicarium.
Formicarium can not be kept exposed on the sun or on the windowsill.
