Functionality of the 35 x 35 cm nest:
This nest is one of the largest currently offered on the myrmecological market.
Thanks to the replaceable plugs (opening-closing), the antkeeper has the ability to create partitions-expand, reduce the breeding area.
For example, the first smallest area is: 9 x 17 cm, the next is 9 x 35, etc.
Thanks to numerous stainless screws, successive layers of plexiglass fit tightly together, ensuring that ants cannot escape from such a large nest.
The inputs for the tubing are round - it is easy to put a 10 mm tubing in them in order to connect with the arena or other nest or with another formicarium.
Formicarium chambers (height 10 mm) are intended for bigger size species of ants.
16 chambers have small cuts for better ventilation of the nest.
The materials and screws used ensure that the nest does not bend when it is lifted, it is stiff, which distinguishes it from other similar types of the nests available on the market.
Hudration of the nest for breeding ants
The nest is hydrated by instilling the chambers with a sponge with a pipette or syringe. The number of water droplets depends on the size of the colony and the season. The water is supposed to gently seep into next chambers and not overflow.
