Description
• Species: Formica Lemani.
• Size: Queen 10 - 12 mm, the workers: 3 - 6 mm.
• Coloration: black - shiny.
• Occurrence: mainly Central Europe.
• Nutrition in nature: insects and honeydew
• Nutrition at home: insects (for example mealworms, crickets etc.)

Formica Lemani lives in colonies where in the nest can be multiple queens. It occurs in mountains. Nests are built under stones, usually in open areas, meadows, high mountain areas.
Body is slender and dark brown with lighter brown legs.
It is very similar to Formica Fusca. It can be distinguished by the fact that the body is more shiny than Formica Fusca’s, also it has numerous hairs on the body and legs.
