Application in Ant Keeping:
This heating mat is particularly beneficial during cooler periods, helping to maintain a stable temperature within the formicarium. Its use promotes increased ant activity, improved metabolism, and supports the development of larvae and eggs. The adjustable temperature feature allows caretakers to tailor the environment to the specific requirements of different ant species and colony stages.
Installation Guidelines:
Place the mat beneath approximately one-third of the formicarium's base to create a temperature gradient, enabling ants to choose their preferred thermal zone. It's advisable to use an external thermostat for precise temperature control. Avoid positioning the mat under built-in sponge waterers or under hydrated cork or gypsum nests to prevent excessive moisture evaporation.
